Although we typically post on Team Vox to let you know about things that are going on with Vox (to, uh, state the obvious), once in a while, we like to let you know about other cool things that are happening around the blogosphere. And we think the idea of four hilarious mommy bloggers traveling across the U.S. on their way to the BlogHer '08 conference - all the while blogging and video blogging the journey - is one trip you will not want to miss.
Four adventurous bloggers from the Silicon Valley Moms Group were selected to participate in the Summer Road Trip '08 and blog about their travels, hotel stays, media appearances, time away from their families, and life on the road. Six Apart helped them partner up with General Motors, who provided the blogging mommies with a Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV to help make their journey comfy, safe, and a little more green.
In case you're not familiar with them, SV Moms is a group of over 200 bloggers who showcase the ups, downs, outrages, struggles, victories, and everyday humor of motherhood. There are currently nine regional and demographically tailored sites that give mothers from D.C., New Jersey, the Deep South, Rocky Mountains, L.A., and Silicon Valley a powerful voice and sense of camaraderie across the country. Whether you're a mother, a child, or just a person who enjoys a good blog, you'll really love reading the words of these amazing women.
The moms buckled into their Chevy Tahoe Hybrid SUV on July 11th and even got an encouraging message from Katie Couric to kick things off! They are currently somewhere in the middle of America making their way to San Francisco where they'll attend an SV Moms Group Party, as well as BlogHer '08.
You do not want to miss these entertaining and irreverent bloggers -- or their spontaneous contest giveaways! -- as they blog from the road. Experience the journey at MomRoadTrip.com.
And let us know about your summer road trip - or plane/boat/bus trip - in the comments! (I like to live vicariously.)
Well if you don't know I've been running cross country with my school, and our practices are each morning. We have built up the miles and now we're on 5 miles. So anyways. Yesterday we started running and like usual I stayed at the back of the pack while slowly getting farther away because those people are crazy fast. I was running with one of the other girls who is actually slower than me, somehow. Her name's Allison, I don't want to keep saying the other girl. She was keeping up with me for the beginning. We actually weren't to far away from the main group, maybe 10 steps back. They had just crossed a street. It was just a regular street, no light, it wasn't even a 4 way crossing point either it was just this one street to the side. A truck was starting to stop when we got there. I was only a step or two in front of Allison, so I didn't stop I just kept going. The driver, so impatient. As soon as I got past his car he starts to go, and he nearly hit me too. I spun around because Allison was still behind me. It's not as if she's short or anything, she's only like an inch or two shorter than me. Well I spun around and the guy put on his brakes so he doesn't hit her. She was right in front of his car too. She crossed the street, alive thank God, and the impatient, blind, stupid guy speeds off. Before he did though I heard his girlfriend, or wife whatever she is, say "Oh my God!". It was like she was blaming Allison for nearly being hit. I almost yelled "Hey watch where you're going you almost hit her you retard!". I didn't though because it's not very Christian-like, and going to a private school I don't think it would've been a wise thing to say. I mean if someone yelled that at an idiot driver and then said "Oh why don't you come by our church, and maybe repent; it'll be fun I promise" I would be puzzled too. Heck I wouldn't go near that church even if they were giving out free stuff. So I didn't, no matter how much I wanted to, I didn't. But that guy must've been a real idiot not to see her. Yeah he is in a truck and is higher up, but if he saw me he would've been able to see her.
I can't believe that guy was so impatient because he nearly hit me, then pretty much hit Allison. It just cost him more time than it would've if he had just sat there waiting patiently. Ok maybe he was going somewhere important and couldn't be late, but I'm sure hitting someone and then having to deal with the police, and all that junk that comes with it would've made him late for sure. What did he think he could go right through her as if she were a ghost. No way! Last time I checked everybody is made of the same material, and I'm pretty sure bones and flesh aren't the same thing as ectoplasm. Just so you know that's what they call what ghosts are made of. Well there certainly seem to be a lot more idiots out there now.

Yes that's exactly what my 4th of July was. It was the lamest 4th of July I have ever had. My family was supposed to spend 4th of July with one of our friend's family. It didn't work out though because a relative died on Wednesday, and they just couldn't get together with us. It stunk big time. We kept asking our parents what we were going to do and they said they didn't know. So it was pretty much like a Saturday. My dad worked in the backyard trimming and my brother did some work too, I think. My mom was making homemade baked beans. She had gotten all the stuff so she decided to make them anyways. I laid around all day because I was tired from running 5 miles in the morning and I didn't want to do anything. Then out of the blue my parents say go take a shower. I was like ok because I was planning on taking one soon anyways. I was curious,. however, as to what we were showering for. Of course they my parents wouldn't tell us. We ended up going up to the Mt. Baldy lodge restaurant. We ate a lunch-dinner there and went back home. Star Wars was on that night so we watched that. I wanted to watch the fireworks after, but I was so tired from waking up at 6:15 every day that I just went to bed. The highlight of my 4th of July was probably watching star wars, oh and then came sleep. It was the lamest 4th I've ever had.
What happened indeed. That's what I think when I see little kids nowadays. Well the ones that are in 4th to 6th grade. I remember when I was in 4th grade that my friends and I never got in fights, argue with teachers, and never said a single cuss word. We had never even heard a cuss word in life up to that point. We had fun just being together no matter what we happened to be doing at the moment. Now that I look back on those simple days, it really was the golden point in my life. Having 3 main friends that I hung out with all the time, had fun no matter what we were doing or where we were, and hung out at each other's houses after school, during the summer, or on weekends. I remember before my 3rd main friend started hanging out with us that the 3 of us were called the three musketeers. Then Joe came along and we decided to be called the 4 musketeers. We had so many good times. We grew up though and moved into the 5th grade. Got more friends but we still stuck together. The new 4th graders were a bit more troublesome than our year had been, but then again we grew worse as we went into the 5th grade. We weren't too bad though, just a bit rowdier and talkative.
Next came 6th grade. Wow. I was shocked with the new 4th graders. My friends and I were all pretty much the same except for the fact we were older, more talkative, less attentative (of course), and liked doing different stuff during lunch and recess (or should I put recess first?). But let me tell you these 4th graders were just bad. I remember we were waiting to go out to the blacktop before school started and all of a sudden I hear someone behind me say "Oh my God hurry the F@#% up!" I was like who said that? I look back and there's a whole bunch of 4th graders standing behind us looking annoyed and impatient. I was so shocked I just started being stubborn and thought to myself "it couldn't have been them, it must have been a 6th grader who moved away right after he/she said that". It was crazy. So you know my day went about as usual and I had a great day up to lunch. During lunch I had just finished eating and was heading back up to the blacktop with my friends when I saw some 4th graders ahead of us. They were just talking regular at first, but all of a sudden one of them started cussing. Oh and this isn't just one word, it was like the whole sentence was constructed from cuss words. I was shocked. I couldn't ignore it anymore; I had to face up to the fact that this 4th grader was cussing. It was really sad. I kind of felt bad for him because he was probably raised up by parents who cussed all the time so he thought it was alright. Now I'm even older and I wonder how young are the kids who are cussing now? 3rd, 2nd grade? It's sad because eventually it may come to little toddlers' first words are cuss words. It saddens me, but it can't be stopped. Maybe in school teachers can stop it, but teachers don't live with their students (only a few exceptions here, if your parents are teachers then you're covered) so it's going to happen at home. Let's hope those toddlers like mama and dada better. Let's just hope.
If you could do anything you want tomorrow, what would it be?

Oh man, I know exactly what I would do. First I would sleep, sleep, sleep. Yessir I would. Then I would go on one of those million dollar shows and win. Then I'd spend some of it and then put the rest in my savings account. I think that's about it. Yeah then I would just read, maybe play my ds a bit. Oh and I would get a puppy. Either a Shi Tzu, Golden Retriever, Chocolate Lab (for my mom she wants one), Cockapoo (they're soo cute), or a Siberian Husky (these are so cute too). Yeah that sounds good. Yup. Now you should ask what I would do on Friday. I want to run the 5k in Claremont so bad, but I'm too late to register and day of registration is just hectic. Yeah that would be my Friday.
What does blogging do for you?

Blogging, blogging, hmm, what it does for me... Ooo that's a tough one. Let me think that one over for a minute. Ok minute's over. lol! Well blogging offers me endless possibilities really. I started blogging for an English assignment that I enjoyed, but kind of didn't like. I only didn't like it because we had to blog about one thing in particular. That gets boring after awhile so you can imagine my pain. I like it now though because I can post about whatever I want to. It's a way for me to vent about some seriously annoying issues I've come across, I can post about things I like, I can give my opinion on something, and much much more. It's also a way to get my voice to be heard in a crowd of people. I like that most because many people probably wouldn't bend their ear to listen to me. It's also a great way to spread Christianity. Many people think you have to become a missionary to spread God's message, but it's a lot simpler than that. Just telling people you know about God is spreading the word. I figure it's easier to spread God's word through blogging because billions of people can read what you've written. It's all very cool.
I got this story in an email and let me tell you it's the funniest and awesomest thing ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One day a 6 year old girl was sitting in a

FOR WE WALK BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT'
Ok this is just so cool. I also think that this teacher is messed up. It's not because he/she doesn't believe in God, I think this teacher is messed up because like the title says we're one nation UNDER GOD. I just think that if we're saying that then this teacher should not be telling kids that there is no God just because we can't see Him. I get the feeling that these kids are young too, and if I'm correct we don't get taught about evolution until 8th grade. Believe me I know I learned about it recently. I also know that in public schools teachers aren't allowed to teach about God. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've been in public schools long enough to know this. So say I became a teacher and I started teaching about Moses, Isiah, Jacob, Immanuel (Jesus), Esther, Naomi and Ruth, Abraham, King David, King Solomon, etc, etc, etc. I would be fired, correct? Ok I'm a teacher again and I start dissing God and proving how He's not real with my atheist views and just put down every example that might contradict me with "oh that's not possible because..." I wouldn't get fired? I just think that's wack! I mean I understand that you're not allowed to preach the gospel in school, unless it's private, but you can put Him down? That's not right. If you can't teach about Him then you can't put Him down. Most teachers are good about not talking about God in class at all, or if they do it's not biased with what they believe. But there are those few that think it's perfectly alright to either teach about God or put Him down. I have no problem with teaching about God, but if you're in a public school don't do it because there is a mix of religious beliefs.
What is a childhood memory that still haunts you?
I'm guessing you mean a bad memory because a good memory wouldn't haunt you. I'm still considered a kid, but I do have one memory that I know will haunt me forever. One of my friends had an older brother who was the same age as mine, and they played baseball on the same team. In fact that's how my friend and I met. At one of their games my friend and his other older brother, by only a year, brought their skateboards and we took turns riding them down this hill that was a good distance away from our parents. They were ok with it though because we would check in, and there was three of us. It could've been four but my sis hates sports and doesn't like skateboarding. She went for baseball instead of skateboarding. We were at the top of the hill about to go down when a girl came by with a rottweiler I think, if my memory is right. She was at the bottom of the hill, and we were a bit wary, all except Zach, my friend. She said it was alright and that her dog wouldn't hurt us. Garrett, Zach's older brother, said don't go because we didn't know this person or her dog. Zach being his crazy self rode down anyways. Well when he got to the bottom near the girl the dog jumped at him and started to bite and claw him. The girl was in shock for a second then she pulled her dog off of Zach and tried to keep him at bay. Zach went over to this wall that was like a few steps away. The dog got away from his owner and tried to attack him again. The girl sheltered Zach by standing right in front of him, she was a teenager I believe so this worked out very good. Garrett and I were in shock up on the hill. We wanted to go get help, but the only way down was right in the path of the dog, and let me tell you no way were we going down there! In a minute or so the girl got her dog and was able to drag him away. She left so we could get help, and so the dog couldn't attack Zach again. It was scary to see that happen. Garrett and I ran down to Zach and see if he was alright. He was scratched and bit a lot. Garrett ran ahead to get his parents and I grabbed the skateboards. I can't remember how but we somehow got over to where our parents were. An ambulance had come and fixed Zach up there. I think his mom took him home then. I can't remember the outcome of that game; who could with all that happened that day. Ever since then I've been wary of dogs whatever their owners say.
